listening to the bub play his recorder while my mom played the piano today was pretty priceless. it seems that an affinity for playing musical instruments may have indeed skipped a generation, thankfully. my mom plays the piano beautifully and sean's dad and uncles are talented guitarists ~ sean and i like to listen to music, but that's where our affinity ends. how great that lyle might be good at it - that he might not complain every day that he has to practice scales on the piano! we could be total band parents - going out to clubs at age 50 watching lyle play drums for some alternative country punk band - taking him for his first tattoo when he turns sixteen - painting his fingernails black - or lugging amps, a drum kit and his bandmates' guitars from dive to dive ~ oh, i must be dreaming! that would be so kick-ass cool :) we're keeping our fingers crossed.
